Launching Quven

Quven is here: a self-hosted media server for your movies, your shows, your documentaries, built to feel premium on every screen while your library stays on hardware you own.

Editorial update, 29 July 2026: Quven 1.0.18 is public for Windows, macOS and Linux. The Android testing group now has 42 members, though Play closed-testing eligibility still depends on an actual store opt-in, and group membership alone won’t get you in. The native iPhone and iPad app is in App Store review. Android TV / Fire TV and Apple TV (tvOS) will follow in v1.1, with web-powered Smart TV wrappers in v1.2. What you can do today

Install the server where your media lives. Point it at your folders. Then you can stream to the native Windows or macOS desktop app, or, with Pro, to the hosted web client in a modern browser. The macOS release is signed and notarized, and it ships for Intel and Apple silicon. Linux 1.0.18 ships as server-only x64 and ARM64 AppImages; the ARM64 artifact is published, though it hasn’t had a native hardware smoke test yet. Direct play, hardware decoding, untouched HD audio, styled subtitles: they’re all there on the native desktop clients.

Your library and your everyday playback will stay on infrastructure you control. Quven Account adds managed identity, entitlement and relay capabilities on top, and it won’t turn the home media server into a hosted SaaS library.

Free for home use

The complete local experience is free for home use. So what sits behind a paywall? Only the cloud features that genuinely cost money to run, such as the zero-configuration managed relay. Reaching your own server through your own network setup will stay free, and product analytics remains optional and gated on the consent you’ve actually given.

Founders

Founder status went to the first 100 eligible accounts, and those Founders receive Pro at no cost through 31 December 2026, and there’s no card asked for and no payment taken today, which is the whole of what the programme asks of them. Once paid checkout opens, a Founder account can buy Lifetime Max for the promised €69 through that date; from 1 January 2027 the standard Lifetime price will apply to everyone. What’s next

Android and the iPhone and iPad app are both public now. Living-room apps should follow, then music, then ebooks and comics. The roadmap records current direction and verified gates, and it doesn’t pretend that unfinished distribution work has already shipped.
