Built for the way you actually watch.
Every part of Quven is tuned for real libraries and real hardware — from byte-perfect direct play to a catalogue that matches itself, on clients that feel premium everywhere.
Built for the files you actually have
Quven plays your media at full fidelity and only transcodes when it truly has to. The hard parts — HD audio, HDR, styled subtitles — are the point, not an afterthought.
Direct play, untouched
When a client can demux the source, Quven streams the original file as-is — no transcode, no quality loss, no fans spinning up.
Hardware transcoding
When a device can't decode natively, FFmpeg transcodes on the fly with auto-detected acceleration: NVENC, Quick Sync, CUDA, VideoToolbox.
HDR tone-mapping
HDR10 and Dolby Vision tone-mapped to SDR with a Hable curve, so highlights survive on screens that can't do HDR themselves.
HD audio passthrough
Bitstream DTS-HD, TrueHD and Atmos straight to your receiver on native clients — the one thing a browser fundamentally can't do.
Subtitles done right
Styled ASS/SSA, PGS and VobSub bitmap burn-in, plus external SRT/VTT. Choose track and size at play time.
Many files, one title
A 4K rip and a 1080p remux of the same film live under one entry; a Sources picker chooses the variant when you press play.
A catalogue that understands itself
Point Quven at your folders and it builds a real catalogue: matched, deduplicated, and rich with the artwork and ratings that make a library feel alive.
Automatic matching
Metadata matched against TMDb, coping with release-scene naming in five languages, year-mismatch recovery and leet-substitution repair.
Manual match when it counts
When the matcher isn't confident it asks instead of guessing — a manual-match dialog and a 'needs review' inbox you can batch-confirm.
Movies, shows & documentaries
Separate libraries with the right shape for each: feature films, season/episode trees, and documentaries detected as either film or series.
Background scanning
Scans run in the background with live progress and are always user-initiated — nothing kicks off behind your back.
Cinematic detail pages
Backdrops, score arcs, multi-source rating pills (TMDb, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic), cast strips and related rails.
Optional AI tie-breaking
An optional AI step breaks matching ties and repairs zero-result queries. Bring your own key, or leave it off entirely.
Premium on every screen
Native is where the engineering goes. The web client is a first-class fallback, not a stripped-down admin panel — every surface is meant to feel like the same premium product.
Native desktop app
A real native client on Avalonia: dark/light themes, command palette, keyboard shortcuts, resume, audio/subtitle/aspect pickers and a stats overlay.
Premium web client
A cinematic browser client with a serious HLS player — your universal fallback when there's no native app at hand, away from home or on a guest device.
Mobile & TV
RoadmapiOS and Android share the same C# core as desktop; Smart TV wrappers and native TV apps are on the roadmap.
Finds your server itself
The client discovers your server over mDNS on the LAN — zero setup for a single-user home install, with full Identity + JWT a switch away.
Reach it your way
Stay in your living room or reach your library from the other side of the world. Local is always full-speed and free; the managed relay is there when you don't want to touch a router.
Self-hosted remote — free
Reach your server from outside your LAN with your own port-forward, reverse proxy or Tailscale. Your bandwidth, your rules, always free.
Managed relay — Pro
Or flip on the managed relay and reach your server through NAT and CGNAT with zero configuration. You pay only for the convenience.
Profiles & watch state
Per-user watched state, resume position, ratings and watchlist. One to two profiles free; unlimited on Pro.
Passkey sign-in
Sign in with Windows Hello, Touch ID or any WebAuthn passkey — there's no password to phish or leak.
Yours, not ours
Everything that runs on your hardware is free. The only things you pay for are the ones that run on ours.
No account required
Local use needs no Quven account — install, point it at your folders and play. An account only unlocks cloud features.
Runs on your hardware
Your media never leaves your machine for anything local. Cloud features are opt-in and clearly marked before anything is sent.
No retroactive paywalls
What ships free stays free. Paid tiers only add features that carry a real, ongoing operational cost.
See it on your own library.
Download the free server, point it at a folder, and watch the catalogue come to life in minutes.
